The Only Time Says: Are They Just Friendsq

The Only Time Says: Are They Just Friends?

Hey BellsπŸ””,

Welcome to my little corner of the internet.πŸ’Œ

Let me take you on a journey—one that was never meant to be a love storyπŸ’˜, yet somehow, it lingers in the space between what is and what could have been.🫣

So, let me introduce you to Mr velvetπŸ€——an obedient, brilliant, yet fun-loving guy who enjoys pulling people’s legs but secretly has a soft side for those he cares about. And then there's Melody 🎠—an average student, a die-hard Bollywood fanπŸ’ƒπŸ», and a talkative, lively girl from a small village. Two completely opposite personalities. Do they puzzle each other?🧩

Back in our 6th and 7th grade, the three of us were new to the school. But, like most of our classrooms rooted in an Asian mentality, boys and girls hardly interacted. As far as I knew, Mr.velvet used to sit behind melody , and there was no connection between them. I left after two years, and for all I knew, they were just classmates.

Fast forward to our pre-university days—we met again. Fate had its own plans. Mr.velvet took Electronics, while melody and I chose Biology. Though she was in a different section, we still shared the same language classes. And interestingly, Mr .velvet  was in the same class too. Over time, our friendship faded a bit—we had our own circles, our own lives. Two years passed, and we all moved on to college.πŸ˜‡

And destiny? It played its role once again. Mr velvet and I ended up in the same college, while Melody's was nearby.πŸŽ’ Mr.velvet was still the same "Sigma" guy—focused, distant, lost in his world of studies, music, and art. Melody? I had no clue about her anymore.🫠

Then, after three whole years, something unexpected happened. A common friend—let’s call him Cupid (trust me, this guy deserves his own storyπŸ˜‰πŸ˜‹!)—casually mentioned that Mr Velvet had been texting a girl. And not just texting—he was soft, caring, and unlike his usual self with her.

And guess who the girl was?

None other than Melody .

The same girl I was once best friends with. The same girl he never even interacted with in school. I never saw this coming.πŸ€“

Cupid untangled the story for me. They weren’t "just friends." Something was there, lingering, waiting to be acknowledged. But when we playfully confronted Mr velvet, he brushed it off with a classic defence, “We’re just friends, it’s not like how you guys are thinking.”

Classic, right? But how could we let it go just like that?🀨 As Asian students, it is our sacred duty to ship our friends with the ones they are even slightly close to. And so, we followed our parampara religiously! and shipped them hardπŸ˜‚. The more we teased, the more he built his walls. He wouldn’t show us their chats. He wouldn’t even give me bubbles’s number so I could dig deeper.

And then came the line that hit me: “One day, I’ll be someone’s husband, and she’ll be someone’s wife. We won’t be able to talk like this anymore.”πŸ’”❤‍πŸ”₯

He’d cut her off before anything even began.

Deep down, this sentence made me feel like he was screaming, *We’re not meant to be together.* And it’s echoing in my ears now.πŸ₯²

Practical? Yes. Fair? That’s the question.

Is he just hiding his feelings? Or are we overhyping a simple friendship? Should they take a chance or let things stay as they are? Love isn’t always grand confessions and dramatic moments—sometimes, it’s in the art of silently loving someone, pretending it’s nothing.

And I do feel our Mr. Velvet is mastering this art of being a silent lover while pretending to be just a friend.πŸ«‚

What do you think, Bells? Let’s turn the table—should Velvet break his walls, or is this just another story only time will tell?

Until next time,

Your Pearl.🐚
